Hi... My name is Elliot and I'm a CG Generalist who loves to be a part all things 3d; modeling, texturing, lighting, look development, scene assembly, environments & rendering with software proficiency in; Maya, Houdini, Solaris, Blender, Substance Painter, Nuke, After Effects, Unreal Engine, Arnold, Vray, Karma, Redshift & Cycles.

... but by far my best trait, is my versatility.

As a Freelance CG Generalist, my ability to change hats and still deliver amazing results is the reason that my clients love to work with me.

As technology and the tools available to artists and developers continue to evolve, it is important to stay grounded in the principles of the craft. Whilst the tools will always help artists to create amazing pieces of art, the artists are the real distillers of emotion. We must never lose sight of this.

  • VFX Lighting & Look Development Artist at Hogarth

    The role started in Feb 25 and required effort to help set up procedural lighting and lookdev tools inside Houdini, for a limited number of products. The product number would grow in the coming months.

    Working closely with the AI team to ensure that the products sit well on generated or photographed backplates, the lighting setups would eventually need to be assigned to products procedurally and headlessly. It was for this reason that a system was developed to derive keylight orientation from luminance values within an hdr image.

    Working predominantly as a look dev and lighting artist, but also required to switch my hat quite often my active responsibilities include:

    - Digital double ingestion and Clean up.

    - Conforming assets into USD for Karma.

    - Traditional lighting work on backplates.

    - Procedural lighting setups for different products and sizes (Glass, Plastic, Metal)

    - Compositing material AOVs & LPE’s in Nuke

    - Render Optimisation
